Fibra Viva is the result of the project of the same name that was born in 2007 as an initiative of the Instituto Família Legal to train women, generally mothers of the institution's students, in the production of textile crafts, from recyclable materials, as a potential source of income for their families.

The project trained 16 women from the local community by promoting sewing workshops as a method of encouraging financial resilience among the families involved. In addition, the initiative is a genuine way of strengthening sustainability in our municipality, as it uses materials that would otherwise be thrown away, such as mailbags used by the Post Office, old wetsuits used by diving companies in the city, as well as denim cut-outs and other useful materials for reuse.

The project was highlighted in one of the chapters of the book "Mãos, meninas, mulheres " by Ricardo Bueno, published in physical version in 2011 by the publisher Quattro Ventos.

Currently, Fibra Viva continues to flow, not as a training project, but as a result of these workshops in which two of the 16 women trained continue to build and sell models of bags, toiletry bags, purses, coin purses and car trash cans . Of the amount raised, 40% is allocated to the maintenance of the project (electricity, water, maintenance of the machines, etc.) while the other 60% goes to the composition of the artisans' income.
